The Greenwich Admirals A have retained the Medway Cup with an emphatic win 88-59 over Division Two team Bexley.
Greenwich dominated the first two quarters going into half-time leading 54-17. In the first quarter Greenwich guard Tomas Jurgelis scored 10 points before unfortunately spraining his ankle and being unable to play on.
Bexley's J. Pullen also received a cut to his face in the first quarter which mean't he had to leave the court for repairs. However, he returned to top score with 29 points. The third and fourth quarters were a bit of an anti-climax as Greenwich held on to their massive lead despite Bexley staging a minor come back in the third quarter.
Winning Coach Stuart Turpie received the Medway Cup in what may well be his last game in charge at Greenwich. In September, he is retiring from teaching and moving with his wife to the South of France. Alessandro Dassi of Greenwich was presented with the MVP Award sponsored by Xtreme Basketball.
CUP GLORY: Greenwich's #4 Tomas Jurgelis, #7 Alessandro Dassi with the MVP Award, and #9 Guillaume Lambert holding the Kent Cup, they retained from last season.
