Across the continents music took on a fiercely important role during the War Years. Truly an international language, hearts and voices sung while feet danced and marched their way from The Home Front to  Enemy Lines. Along with the introduction of the Swingin' and Jivin' Lindyhop, patriotic choruses and bitter-sweet love songs were vital in the fight against faded spirits and morale. It was the popularity of the female singers of the time who often travelled abroad to entertain the troops that that gave rise to the term 'Forces Sweethearts', most notably the following:
