Community Work

On a Thursday we host a Lunch club in Brandon Carrside.

£4 SUBS- which includes a dinner of some sort and a dessert, plus lots of goodies to take home.

They also play a game of bingo!!

12:30-3:00pm

We are always out and about...

We restarted our Area Planning Committee which was put on hold during Covid, young people put themselves forward for the roles from each youth club.

So far they have enjoyed Weardale Activity Centre and took part in Clarty Bairns as a fundraiser for St Oswald's.

The APC went to Durham's Miner Gala to remember our heritage and represent the youth club.

We held a Wellbeing Programme in Brandon Primary and Silver tree Primary School for year 6's. The programme looked at friendships, anxiety, bullying, healthy eating and money management.

Random Acts of Kindness Week

Young people made random acts of kindness bags consisting of a tea or coffee bag and some biscuits.

They were distributed to Durham Hospital A&E department, Deerness Kennels, Brandon Co-op, local schools, other local groups and to care homes for the staff.

We were invited by Durham Association of Boys and Girls Club’s to represent them alongside Oxhill Youth Club at The Lord Lieutenants celebration of Youth Service at Durham Cathedral on 5th March.

We attended the Parish Awards on 11th March and were very pleased to receive an award and we are very grateful to the Parish Council for their ongoing support.

A very kind donation

Brandon had a visit from the former Trustees of New Brancepeth Youth Club who kindly donated the funds left over from the old youth club to Carrside to further develop the activities for young people, we are very grateful for this donation.

We had a fabulous night at County Durham Community Foundation High Sheriff’s Awards. We received £1000 funding which was then doubled by the Sir Tom Cowie Foundation who came out to Brandon for a visit.
