about
In an over saturated and fickle market it's a relentlessly tough job to be original in a specific genre, and stay on top of your game these days. However, Polar Caps (aka West London singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist & producer Owen Hughes-Holland) is definitely pushing the boundaries with his unique style of electro-acoustic folksy pop.
Launching in the summer of 2011 Polar Caps made a visible impact on the underground scene, with the successful release of his debut EP 'Solutions'. As well as gaining a clothing co. endorsement, sharing the stage with the likes of Example, The Cribs, AlunaGeorge, Jake Bugg and DJ Fresh, P.C also featured on NME.com, MTV artists, had celebrities such as Stacey Solomon & Alex Zane tweet about him, and showcased music on Channel 4's Hollyoaks.
Now embarking on a new musical direction, armed with a fresh new single ‘The Hillside’, released through Alaskan Records. It seems as though 2021 is most definitely set to be a landmark year for the return of the indie artist.

Rolling straight into 2021 with a brand new single,
'The Hillside' is a tribute to a haunted house in the middle of the Chiltern Hills (UK) that Owen grew up in. It tells a story of events and nostalgic memories over a 30 year period, taking the listener on a journey through its haunting lyrics and dramatic instrumental crescendos. Accompanying the release is a music video / short film, link below.
The return single 'Circles' from Polar Caps sees Owen take his writing in a whole new musical direction. With a touch of indie folk and ambient soundscapes, he captures an honest depiction of his life experience in the process.
