It's a hot August night and a gang of twentysomething old university friends are on edge. Shona is awaiting the return of her husband, Nigel, who himself is worried about the fox that is killing all their chickens. Then there's Lucy who's chain smoking and bingeing on the chocolates. A grieving Tom is busy obsessing about table tennis. Joining them are Dick, whose business is about to collapse, and his latest girlfriend Helen.
