Veneers
Case Study 1
This 28 year old patient was recommended to our practice as she was concerned about the appearance of her poorly fitting and un-aesthetic veneers. One of her teeth was also causing pain. She had traumatised her upper front teeth approximately five years prior to her appointment. Her general dental practitioner had placed six porcelein veneers.

Following a detailed clinical assessment the first step was for root canal treatment to two teeth.
The particular clinical challenges for the veneers in this case were to address:-
asymetrical contours giving an unbalanced appearance
poor marginal fit
poor shade selection
too-high opacity giving an unnatural appearance
'black triangles'; the gap between the teeth at the gum line showing dark behind
avoid over-preparation as the teeth had already been prepared for the first veneers
A wax-up was a vital part of the treatment to ensure that the patient would be happy with the planned end result. The diagnosis was carefully discussed with the patient and a treatment plan agreed.
To allieviate her symptoms root canal treatment was completed in-practice for the upper right central incisor (FDI 11) and upper left lateral incisor (FDI 22) teeth.
