About Us

We have been in existence since 1964. Originally it was a boy’s club, but as times and government agenda’s changed, so did the ethos of the club. The project as it works today works in partnership with the committee of the building, Durham Association of Clubs for Young People, One Point , Youth Engagement Services, Local schools , Parish Councils and Community Partnerships. The project is run by a Management Committee which incorporates representatives from most of the above agencies as well as local people from the community.

We provide 10 Youth Work sessions a week for 13-19 year olds, along with a junior club and a variety of adult classes aimed at young parents and the unemployed. Many of the sessions are held in the Youth Club itself but we do have sessions that are held at other facilities within our local area. We provide Advice, support and guidance to the Young People of Brandon, Meadowfield, Langley Moor, Esh Winning, New Brancepeth and Ushaw Moor areas in a professional, confidential and safe environment.  We also offer issue based workshops, offer the opportunity to gain awards, provide offsite visits and residential visits to enrich the young people’s lives and make them culturally aware.

We provide a weekly group session to young men and women so that they can mix with their peer groups. All work that is delivered is planned, monitored and evaluated with the Young People themselves to improve and monitor the provision we provide.

We strive towards helping young people explore issues both locally and nationally and make them more aware of how their actions affect the community. By providing issue based sessions and fun activities we hope to encourage young people to play a more active role within the community and reduce anti-social behaviour levels.

“ It helps me with a lot of things. It encourages me to go further and push myself to do more things. It is a good opportunity to talk to someone. The workers always make sure you are okay. Youth club is amazing I love it. It helps me to work with new people as a team. ”-Young Person From Brandon
