Group Events
There was no Group Executive Committee until the Troop was reopened in 1978. Until then Miss Kennedy had handled all administration and funds herself.
The first Chairman of the Executive Committee was Mr Peter Gates and meetings were held each month and an Open Evening and AGM were held each year - usually in May.
The tradition of celebrating the Group's birthday in February continued and in 1993 the Group celebrated its fiftieth birthday with a large party in St Joseph's School hall. Former Cubs, Scouts and Leaders were invited and the current Leaders were pleased that one of the very first Cubs attended the party.
For several years the Group Executive Committee organised a Spring Fair in Devizes Corn Exchange. The Group ran a number of stalls of its own and invited other voluntary bodies from in and around the town to run their own stalls for a charge.
From February 1986 until May 1996 the Group published a quarterly newsletter called The Mallet and Chisel. A complete set of the newsletters is held in the Parish Achives.
