we also continued to pay for an acre of rainforest to be left standing - locking in approx. 260 tonnes co2 per year. we did this with cool earth.

we still export our electricity to ecotricity and use their renewable electricity product and green gas product.
water: 48.96 cu. m as a family & business (44.71 litres per person per day)
brian also 'offset' his lifetime water usage with water aid after investigating cost of projects at drop 4 drop website.
additional to our normal charitable support of water aid we raised £287.79 for them in £1 donations in 2011. you can donate here. we didn't raise the £1 billion intended ;-) however, more importantly, the idea of a simple, affordable amount being easy to donate has been taken up by some big charities. we think this is an idea whose time has come and look forward to charities using it widely to increase the funds they raise. the 'text santa' appeal on itv used a £1 text number which helped them raise £4.1 million.
landfill: 32.04kg as a family & business (10.68 kg per person)
solar panels generated 5867 kw/h from jan 1st 2011 to 31st december 2011. 27% more than suggested by the installers.
revenue from them was approx. £2,400 for the year.

solar thermal provided hot water for 8 months+. now that we know a few tricks we reckon we get about 3/4 of our hot water from the tubes on the roof. wonderful.
