results for 2015 & video with inspiring news on the tesla battery storage solution - the tesla powerwall & powerpack

solar panels generated 5664 kw/h from jan 1st 2015 to 31st december 2015.

revenue from them was approx. £2,550 for the year.

--------------------------------

solar thermal payment through the renewable heat incentive scheme paid us £217.

--------------------------------

surprisingly, electricity use from the grid continues to go DOWN - by another 10%!! overall percentage of our total electricity from solar panels on roof is again over 51% for the year.

when we get the powerwall we anticipate that this percentage will easily pass 70% and may even get to 100% and we will do more of the tesla charging at home as well.

--------------------------------

the leaf (4200 miles this year) is almost 100% charged at the house and tesla (18,400 miles) partially charged here at the house.

our new game continues  - creating a £300,000 fund to give away in the '5 shops' - renewable energy, disruptive technologies, social enterprises, water projects & community charities - particularly those for young people & teens.

george osborne scuppered our original plan - to put up a wind turbine on gigha (he withdrew support for onshore wind) so we thought we'd put up a load of solar on houses.  he (& amber rudd) scuppered that plan too!!

so now, to raise the money for the fund, our intention is to kit out another house with solar/ solar thermal and tesla powerwall (battery storage) and then build 2 additional carbon negative/ net co2 'taker-outer' passiv houses from scratch. [they'll have solar, solar thermal, rainwater harvesting, air source heat pump and battery storage and will be self-sufficient in energy use - although they will probably retain a link to the grid.]  at the time of writing we are £59,000 from our target.  (we don't do loans from banks.) we intend to have that money by the end of next year to start on these exciting projects.  the intention is to have them all completed by 31st december 2020.

co2: MINUS 0.91 tonnes co2 as a family & business combined (MINUS 0.303t co2 per person) - flights to the states to see family had a big impact on this ...... but still minus!!  (and we won't be flying to the states every year.)

brian & amy have offset their lifetime emissions previously with carbonneutral.com and climatecare.org

we still export our electricity to ecotricity and use their renewable electricity product and green gas product.

water:  47.22 cu. m as a family & business (43.11 litres per person per day)

brian also 'offset' his lifetime water usage with water aid after investigating cost of projects at 'drop 4 drop' website.

landfill: 23.76 kg as a family & business (7.92 kg per person)
