Fillings
Tooth coloured fillings have vastly superior appearance when compared with traditional amalgam fillings. In the past white tooth coloured fillings have been considered not to last as long as amalgam fillings. With modern materials this is now less of a concern. The life of a white filling will depend to some extent on where it is in the mouth and how hard you bite. We will discuss with you the preferred option for you.
Bleaching
Over time teeth tend to yellow. Smoking causes discolouration. Drinks such as coffee and red wine, and some foods, will also cause your teeth to discolour, particularly if coupled with poor dental hygiene. The antibiotics tetracycline and doxycycline are known to cause discolouration in young children whose teeth are still forming as can some other drugs for adults.
Bleaching is a simple and safe way to lighten and brighten teeth. Bleaching can be provided on an
in-surgery or an at-home basis. The process involves the application of a whitening gel in a tray formed from an impression of your teeth.
Implants
Where there are missing teeth it may be that an implant would be the preferred clinical solution. There is extensive information about implants on our website; please click for further details.
Veneers
Both porcelain and composite veneers or facings can be used to improve the appearance of front teeth with minimal preparation of the original teeth.
