South Carolina - the Palmetto State

Carolina Foothills Resort - 2007, 2014

We spent two nights at the Carolina Foothills Resort in South Carolina in 2007. Entrance at N35.1719° W81.9604°.

This was the best accommodation of the journey: a brand new cabin with a fully equipped kitchenette and full en suite facilities. We were made to feel very welcome here, and had long chats with some of the members.

The resort has a large clubhouse containing a well equipped kitchen. a swimming pool, a hot tub, two shower blocks - one with outside showers, an area for visiting RVs and tents and several cabins available to rent. Wi-fi is included in the daily fees and is available across the entire site.

One evening we set off into the woods to explore and found a little stream. The site is so large that on returning to the camping area, we weren't sure where we were and had to find a landmark before making our way back to the cabin!

In 2014 we spent another two nights at Carolina Foothills Resort. This time the cabin that we had used last time was not available, so we booked the adjacent one. However, when we arrived we discovered that, in spite of the two cabins costing the same, and both being called "deluxe", there was no kitchen in it

If you intend to self-cater, make sure that you book early and ask for cabin 4.

Fortunately, we were able to use the clubhouse to cook and eat our food, but it would have been a lot easier if there had been a kitchen in the cabin.

In common with most American naturist sites, Carolina Foothills Resort has a strict No Cameras policy.

However, we were able to take a few photographs when there was no one else around.
