In 2013 we visited MSAS - also known as Springfield - on our tour of the country that took us from late July until early September to complete.
The club sits in seventeen acres, with woodland around the edges, near Knutsford. There is a large clubhouse, built in 2001 to replace an earlier one that had burnt down. Near the clubhouse are the shower/lavatory block, a heated swimming pool, a crown bowling green, a boules court and a volleyball court.
There are around seventy static caravans and chalets for the members and space for over a dozen touring caravans, motorhomes or tents, in two separate areas. There are electric sockets delivering 16-amp supplies to the tourers and free wi-fi.
Access to the site is through a code-locked gate and visitors are told the gate code. Unfortunately, as the site is about half a mile from the M6, there is a background drone of traffic, but one soon gets used to it.
While we were there the site was having new drains and other services installed and there were trenches and heaps of earth everywhere.
Unfortunately, because of the club's strict No photographs policy, we were unable to take any photographs, but we have borrowed some from the club website.
We did all our shopping in the Booths supermarket in Knutsford about four miles away. The entrance is at N53.3015° W2.3748° and there is a small charge for parking, which is refunded at the checkout if you spend more than £2.00 (2013). We also discovered a village shop and post office in Swan Green, about half a mile away and Morrisons, Tesco and Lidl supermarkets in Middlewich, a few miles to the southwest.

Free Wi-Fi included
From MSAS we visited several National Trust Properties. At Tatton Park, the park is leased to Cheshire East Council which maintains it and charges £5.00 (2013) per car for parking. All other parts of the estate are, as usual, free to National Trust members. We also visited Jodrell Bank and the Anderton Boat Lift. The first listens to radio waves from across the universe and could pick up the signal from a mobile telephone on Mars, if someone up there had one. The second is an amazing Victorian structure that raises and lowers boats fifty feet between the River Weaver and the Trent and Mersey Canal.

When we visited again in 2017, all evidence of the drains work had long gone, except that each touring pitch had a smart new service tower that included an electric hook-up, a tap and a drain. It was great to be able to run a hose from the caravan waste outlet straight into the drain.
