Studland - 1984>>>
This is where we first experienced public nudity - more than thirty-five years ago. We were on holiday with our three children and strolled into the naturist area without realising, until we saw that everybody was nude. From 1985 to 1999, we camped at Burnbake Campsite - N50.6516° W2.0070° - about halfway between Studland and Corfe Castle. This is a twelve acre textile site for tents and campervans - no caravans - with space for up to 130 units.
Studland Beach is probably one of the best known beaches in the country. It is owned by the National Trust and members of the trust can park free at one of two car parks: one just off the chain ferry from Sandbanks and the other, The Knoll, just over two miles along the road towards Studland village. From the first car park, follow the beach away from the ferry until you come to the sign placed by the National Trust. From The Knoll car park turn left and follow the beach to the sign at the other end of the naturist beach.
Alternatively it is possible to park for free at the side of the road close to the entrance to a path at N50.6713° W1.9580° and then follow the path to the beach. This is also the shortest walk to what has been defined by the National Trust as the naturist beach.
After a day relaxing on the beach we can thoroughly recommend a meal at the Bankes Arms Inn in Studland - N50.6423 W1.9476.

Durdle Door - 2003
The naturist area is at one end of a pebble and shingle beach to the west of the oft-pictured Durdle Door rock arch. In the adjacent picture, the naturist area is just before the far headland.
We only visited it once. After a half-mile walk from the car park, a steep climb down a cliff path and a walk of about half a mile along a beach of small, loose pebbles, we thought that the effort involved in getting there far outweighed the benefits.
And then we had to walk back!
However, for those who would like to visit Durdle Door, we have included the car park in our sat-nav data.

South Western Outdoor Club - 2025
South Western Sun Club (SWOC) is a very pleasant members' club tucked away in woodland some ten or so miles north of Dorchester. We visited in July to take part in a BN organised naturist walk. When we arrived we were greeted by one of the members and shown to the clubhouse where we were offered tea and coffee.
The site occupies around four and a half acres and is completely surrounded by mature woodland. The clubhouse is furnished with comfortable chairs, a small kitchen and a large wood burning stove. Close by are two lavatories and emptying points for chemical cassettes. The club also has a marquee that is put up in the summer and furnished with tables and chairs.
There are a couple of dozen pitches for members and visitors and the club welcomes caravans, motorhomes and tents.
The site is off grid and so drinking water has to be taken in by anyone using the site. Water from the roof of the clubhouse is collected in large tanks and used to flush the lavatories. There are no showers, but the club has an arrangement with the Clay Pigeon Caravan Park, about two and a quarter miles down the road, for members and visitors to use the showers there. Members and visitors may also refill water containers there.
Being off grid also means that there are no electric hook-ups.
