Tennessee - the Volunteer State
Rock Haven Lodge - 2019
Rock Haven Lodge occupies twenty-five acres of Tennessee woodland about forty miles southeast of Nashville. We spent a week here in August as part of our eight state tour of the USA. We stayed in one of the cabins, and were pleased that it had a full kitchen and bathroom.
By cabin standards it was most luxurious. The first room had a carpeted sitting area with comfortable chairs at one end and a well equipped kitchen, complete with a smail dining table, at the other. On one wall was an efficient air-conditioning unit. From the kitchen a short passage led past the bathroom to the bedroom. Outside was a roofed terrace big enough for a large glass-topped table, four chairs and a sunlounger with plenty of space around them.
The site has a small swimming pool, with a hot tub adjacent to it; a large communal dining area complete with catering grade kitchen. There is also a tennis court, two volleyball courts, two boules courts and a track for racing radio controlled cars.
There is an area for visiting motorhomes and tents with a shower and lavatory block that also has outdoor showers.
One feature of the site is the miniature railway that runs for about 240 yards through the grounds. The club also has its own fire engine that is fully working. Some of the members have been trained in its use.
From here we visited Oaklands Mansion, a former plantation house in nearby Murfreesboro; the George Dickel distillery, about thirty miles to the south and Lynchburg, the home of Jack Daniel's whiskey, a further fifteen miles southwestish.
In common with most American naturist sites,
Rock Haven Lodge has a strict No Cameras policy
and so we were unable to take any photographs of the site.
Fortunately we were able to take some of ourselves on our own terrace
and borrow some of the site from the resort's website.
