Ohio - the Buckeye State

Cedar Trails - 2026

Cedar Trails sits in sixty acres of forest in southern Ohio around seventy miles east of Cincinnati with around ten acres or so cleared for use as a camp site. There are miles of hiking trails, a heated swimming pool, frisbee golf, volleyball, and more. There are cabins for rent, an area for tents and spaces for visiting caravans and motorhomes, each with its own picnic table and thirty amp hook-up. There is also a pond stocked with fish and a couple of wooden terraces from which to catch them.

We stayed for a week in Hillside Cabin. It was quite basic and set over two floors with a balcony on each.  The downstairs room contained a settee, a dining table with three chairs and a basic kitchen with a good range of cooking utensils.  The upstairs room was partially divided by a wall with a double bed on one side and a pair of bunk beds on the other.  The large wardrobe had three rails for hanging clothes and the chest of drawers in the bedroom was useful for other clothes.  The best features of the cabin were the four ring gas cooker and the very comfortable double bed.  There was no shower and the lavatory was in a little alcove, from which the door had been removed, off the kitchen.  Fortunately the bathhouse, containing two lavatories, two showers, two wash basins and two stainless steel sinks for washing up, was only about a hundred yards away.  In one of the buildings was a washing machine and drier which were available for use.

We enjoyed sitting on our balcony watching the ruby-throated hummingbirds coming to our two feeders.

One day we went for a two-mile walk along some of the trails and one of them took us along the edge of a eight mile or so diameter crater formed some 252–330 million years ago by a meteorite impact.

From here we visited Serpent Mound, the largest serpent effigy in the world - entrance at N39.0226° W83.4337°.

For stocking up the food supplies we found a Save-A-Lot in Peebles which provided all the stuff we wanted - entrance at N38.9406° W83.4132°.  There is also a Yoder's Amish shop a few miles west of Peebles - entrance at N38.9276° W83.5282° - which sells delicious fruit pies.

In common with most American naturist sites, Cedar Trails has a strict No Cameras policy.

When we checked in we mentioned this website and asked if we could take a few photographs of the site.

The lady booking us in said that she would make some enquiries for us and couple of days later

we were given permission to take discreet photographs of the site when no-one else was around.
